The City of Spokane Community Development Department sponsors this loan program, which Kiemle & Hagood administers. The Program provides up to $35,000 in low interest loans (3%) to low and moderate-income homeowners for basic repairs and improvements to their homes. In most cases, these loans require no payments for the first three years.
What can be done? The work that can be done through the Rehab Program addresses health, life, and safety concerns, structural defects, energy conservation and weatherization. These can include repair or replacement of items such as:
How does the work get done? Pre-screened, professional contractors complete the work in accordance with local building codes. When you qualify for a Rehab loan, we help you determine essential repairs. Additionally, we coordinate the bidding process, payment procedures, and any changes to the work at no cost to the homeowner.
How do I qualify?
- The house must be a single family dwelling within the Spokane city limits.
- The purchaser/owner must be living in the house.
- Property taxes and house payments must be current.
How do I pay for the work? The Housing Rehab Program provides 3% fixed-rate loans secured by a note and deed of trust on the property. In most cases, no payment is required on these loans for the first three (3) years. Your loan processor will discuss loan payments with you.
Based on 2008 TOTAL Household Income, your gross household income should be at or below these figures:
- $33,700 1 person
- $38,500 2 person
- $43,350 3 person
- $48,150 4 person
